Lanyard Pull Initiators (LPI)

Description

A Lanyard Pull Initiator (LPI) is an energetic based device that is actuated by a separation event, such as a launch vehicle stage separation. During the separation event, sufficient force is generated across a cable lanyard to compress a spring, release a sear assembly, and initiate an energetic event. Typical LPI manufactured by EBA&D incorporate an integral pyrotechnic time delay assembly to provide proper sequencing delays. This design simplifies system architecture, precluding the need for downstream in-line delay components. Upon reaching the designed delay period, the pyrotechnic signal is transitioned to a detonating output for the initiation of explosive transfer lines or similar devices.
