Flight Termination Charges

Description

Typical Flight Termination Charges consist of Linear Shaped Charge (LSC) assemblies that are mounted onto the case of all types of rocket motors and liquid fuel tanks. Should the vehicle fly off course, the Flight Termination Charges are initiated. A focused energetic jet breaches the motor case reducing its combustion pressure to ambient while breaking apart the motor case structure. Additionally, these assemblies can be utilized to disrupt the aerodynamic surface of a missile or vehicle structure to cause unstable flight and subsequent rapid descent of the vehicle.
