Hatch Severance Systems

Description

Hatch Severance Systems are designed to cut through the structures of aircraft or spacecraft to create a hole, or "hatch", that allows the emergency egress of aircrew and passengers. The functional components of Hatch Severance System are the Cutting Charge as well as initiating devices such as Explosive Signal Transfer Lines. The cutting charge is typically a Linear Shaped Charge (LSC) which has been formed and housed in a charge holder to shape and secure the cutting charge over the hatch to be severed. This allows for the uncompromised vehicle skin to be instantly severed by an independent component mounted on the inside skin of the vehicle. The cutting system is typically severing metallic or composite materials.
