Washington DC, 6 October, 2009: Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI) and Ensign-Bickford Aerospace and Defense (EBA&D) have teamed to form a joint venture (JV) to introduce advanced armor protection solutions in the U.S. market. Harnessing the extensive experience of IMI in providing state-of-the-art armor protection, and the unique know-how and positioning of EBA&D in the U.S. Market, the new JV will offer U.S. forces a range of mature armor solutions. Roadside bombs employing Shaped Charges and Anti-Tank Rockets are posing significant threats to U.S. forces. IMI and EBA&D now have two armor solutions: Iron Wall – a passive armor system effective against small arms ammunition and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). In addition, the system defeats roadside IEDs employing shaped charges (EFP). Iron Wall has been successfully tested against EFPs and Self Formed Fragments (SFF) warheads. Breakwater – a combined (hybrid) passive and reactive armor system designed to protect against small arms ammunition, anti-tank rockets and missiles as well as heavy EFPs. Breakwater Armor modules have been successfully tested against EFPs and RPG anti-tank rockets. Breakwater and Iron Wall armor systems are fully developed and ready for integration on armored vehicles.
