Exploding Bridgewire (EBW) DetonatorOur expertise is no accident

Used in launch vehicle and missile applications where it is absolutely imperative that inadvertent initiation does not occur, our Exploding Bridgewire (EBW) Detonator allows for a sufficient energy source applied across a metallic bridgewire. In a typical EBW detonator application, a capacitive discharge fire set is used, charged by an external current source. This is then instantaneously dumped across the EBW detonator bridgewire when the fire set receives the fire command. This creates a plasma state causing expansion from the first fire explosive mix to cause charge initiation. Rapid, shock energy of this type allows for a relatively insensitive secondary explosive to be used.

Repeat performance

Count on EBA&D's Exploding Bridgewire Detonator to ensure safety and virtually eliminate the possibility for inadvertent initiation. What’s more, these devices are noted not only for their high level of inherent safety but also for their rapid and repeatable function time. Our careful design and assembly expertise ensures that the current flow and firing pulse can be successfully directed through the bridgewire. And our device housings and structures are typically robust to provide confinement after the output charge.
